Alkis Agathokleous was born in Limassol. He graduated from the New School University of New York in 2001 as a guitar player with studies in Jazz and contemporary music. He played and toured with several bands in the US, Greece, the UK, and Cyprus.
While researching for a way to explore the modal systems of the Middle East and Central Asia traditions, he began studying the Ney. His main interest revolves around the ney within Persian and Turkish traditions, as well as a few hybrids of this family.
He participated in many creative projects and recordings in the “Ethnic/Jazz” scene of Cyprus.
Among others: Kafeney Houseband, The Amalgamation Project, Andreas Rodosthenous Ensemble, Nava. On the 18th PJFestival, he presented his own personal project Eupnea.
